One of our team members will assist you with your health concern and schedule you for your Running Assessment.
A Running Assessment is a 1.5 hour appointment with a physiotherapist, designed to analyze all things running. First is an extensive interview of your running history, current level of training, short and long term training goals. The interview is followed by a physical assessment, treadmill walk and run analysis.
The physical portion of the assessment pays particular attention to global posture and alignment, biomechanics, muscular imbalances, musculoskeletal mobility and extensibility.
The actual running evaluation involves a video analysis of your walking and running at a variety of speeds. Surprisingly, running is a very technical sport. Your movement patterns and technique will be assessed with attention to running cadence, stride length, forward lean, vertical displacement, head/arm/trunk movements and overall running mechanics.
The physiotherapist then designs a tailored corrective exercise program for the individual. The program includes mobility, stability and strengthening exercises to improve running form and function, increase efficiency and prevent injury.
Building the necessary strength and stability, the client is propelled forward in their training while having in place strategies to avoid future pain or injury as they pursuit of their training goals.
